Are you looking for a more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly tire?

The Ecopia EP422 improves your vehicle’s fuel economy by reducing tire rolling resistance. On top of that, it reduces your vehicle’s carbon carbon emissions. It’s a combination of all-season traction, so-so handling and pleasant ride comfort.

Dry Performance

The Ecopia EP422 features an all-season compound that utilizes Bridgestone’s unique NanoPro-Tech silica tread to improve fuel economy and provide all-season traction and handling. To lower rolling resistance the tire features a fuel-saver rubber compound in the sidewall and shoulder of the tire.

Compared to a regular touring tire that is not designed with low rolling resistance, it will save you some fuel. Specifically, it will save you about 12 gallons of gas per year. As an added green bonus, EP422 is built using 5% of recycled rubber from post-consumer tires.

Bridgestone ECOPIA EP422 H Or VSpeed Rated Tread

Ecopia EP422 incorporates notched shoulders and intermediate ribs with independent center blocks. This is done in an effort to improve overall dry traction performance. Although traction is good when accelerating and braking in dry conditions, they let loose a bit abruptly when cornering.

So what are they like to drive on?

Well the Ecopia EP422 produces a very soft, crisp, comfortable ride that swallows bumps and potholes. The inside of the tire includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester cord body. This increases stability, ride comfort and high speed control. They are a pleasure to drive on the highways and around town.

Winter Performance

The tire’s tread uses notches and sipes to increase the number of biting edges that grip the snow. There are four circumferential grooves which increase wet performance. They expel water away from under the tread footprint and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

Now since the Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 is a fuel economy tire, don’t expect sporty handling. The steering response lacks a certain immediacy and handling can be a bit slow. However, the tire still grip quite well in dry or wet conditions, never feeling dangerous or out of control. They are not a suitable choice of tire if you’re seeking to push your car to its limits.

The tire lacks confidence inspiring grip in wintry conditions and the soft sidewall doesn’t help in the corners. They struggle to dig their way through moderate to deep snow. Also, they do not possess the levels of traction needed to drive on icy surfaces safely.

This tire is for you if you value the following:

  • Quiet comfortable ride
  • Boost in fuel economy more

This tire is NOT for you if you’re interested in:

  • Any kind of spirited driving

Prices range from $81 to $170 depending on tire sizes. Tread warrenty is 65,000 miles.
